Good and informative, if a little fast. Was hoping for a bit of coverage/comments on mobile development, but this was billed as a general session, after all.

Fascinating how much data is freely available out there. Inspired me to look more closely at OpenStreetMap. Thank you!

Zongs! The desire to download all the map data and build my own private map server.

This was a great talk. I do a lot of mapping stuff and I'm glad he covered a lot of the sort of underlying theory. I definitely want to check out some of the OpenStreetMap stuff.

I've only gone through some of Google's mapping features before so it was nice to see some of the OpenStreetMap features. I also liked the coverage of the various cartography formulas for converting our egg/pear shaped planet into a flat map. Pointing out that the east/west distance being different based on your distance from the equator was a good reminder.

Nice to learn about some non-Google solutions.
